Elmbridge sprint regatta – a first taste of racing

Elmbridge sprint regatta – a first taste of racing

The local sprint regatta scene is now in full flow. The Elmbridge regatta, held on Desborough Cut near Shepperton, was as good as always.

It is an excellent way for beginners to get a taste of racing for the first time, as well as for more seasoned juniors to put their hard training to the test.

The main clubs of the region (Richmond, Wey, Addlestone, Elmbridge and Royal) were out in force. This made for a great event, with racing over  over 200 and 500 metre courses. The day was capped off with a 3km race in singles and doubles.

Many congratulations to those that competed –Ellen, Bea, Harry, Michael, Erin, Jack, Eleanor, Aisling, Ed, Flynn. For many, it was their first taste of racing, and no doubt they will be back for more at the next local regatta.
