I’m a canoeist, get me out of here!

Distressing news reaches us of several aspiring Olympic canoeists getting involved in some sort of celebrity-type cooking competition. Andy Daniels (not a Royal canoeist, it must be said), Jon Boyton (who is….Jon, what were you thinking?), Ed Rutherford of Elmbridge (just wait till Ivan finds out) and two others, variously described on the organisers’ blurb as “etc” and “etc” (who are you then, guys, why so shy?) will be taking on a bunch of rowers for the honour of winning the Battle of Dorney Lake.

Joking apart, it’s all in a good cause with profits apparently being split between Sport Relief and the athletes themselves. The event takes place on 18 February and details of how to buy tickets to the black-tie dinner can be found here.

Apparently the paddlers are getting trained in cooking – and basic food hygiene too. Bush tucker, anyone?

The canoeists are after publicity for their venture. We’re happy to oblige but in return we expect pictures, no less, of these illustrious athletes in their aprons.
