I’m going to declare a one-man war of pedantry against lazy headline writing. Admittedly this site did once use the execrable picture caption “Can-oe believe it” but that was because we were, um, short of ideas and long on space.
Long before GB canoeists Liam Heath and Jon Schofield were described as “rowing for gold” I’ve had a pet, pedantic hate for anyone who refers to canoeists as canoers, canoeing as rowing, canoeists as rowers, paddles as oars and almost everybody who uses the word “awesome”. Or, in our case of course, “oar-some“.
