The problem with having an embarrassment of paddlers to praise is that you inadvertently overlook some of them.
So, our sincere apologies to those club members we forgot to mention in our various previous reports congratulating Royal Canoe Club members Guy Standeven, Matt Robinson and Rob Beer for their selection to the Great Britain Team for the U23 and Junior European Championships in Portugal (full details on team selections can be found here).
We salute Dean Terry and Matt Welch (of Wey Kayak Club), who are both also Royal members and paddling in the U23 group that trains at the club.
Matt and Rob will take part in the K2 200m event in Portugal, while Dean – along with Matt Welch – will contest the K2 1,000m event.
And let’s not forget three-time Olympian and club member Paul Darby-Dowman, who’s the Great Britain U23 coach and the man responsible for all this success.
