Britain’s two strongest medal hopes, its K1 and K2 200m boats, are in action at Eton Dorney today in the heats of the Olympic canoe sprint 200m races.
Ed McKeever races at 9.37am in lane 5 and Liam Heath and Jon Schofield race at 10.54, also in lane 5.
Also racing is Royal Canoe Club’s Jess Walker, she is on at 10.26 in lane 4 and Britain’s Canadian canoe paddler Richard Jefferies races at 9.58am in lane 3.
Jess has already raced this week, she was stroking the women’s four-person kayak (K4), which finished fifth in the final. Richard Jefferies has also raced in the men’s C1 1,000m and finished well down the field.
Check out these videos. First of all, a profile of Ed McKeever on Youtube. And (further down) you may recall our article on the K2 training at the Qinetiq water tank near Southampton. Have a look at the video.
