McKeever. Walker, K2 cruise to 200m final

On paper, Britain looks capable of three medals in the kayak 200m events on Saturday.

Ed McKeever underlined his canoe sprint credentials at Eton Dorney today, winning his semi-final with what looked like a comfortable performance. He punched the air at the finish and paddled round for a warm-down. He appears to be the man to beat.

The Daily Telegraph ran this piece on Ed today.

RICHARD JEFFERIES  didn’t make it to the ‘A’ final of the men’s C1 200m race. He was 6th in the semi-final and must wait to see if there’s a ‘B’ final.

Meanwhile, it was a perfectly-timed and brilliant 2nd place in the semi-final for Royal’s JESS WALKER. Jess powered off the start and was lying between 3rd and 4th before a very strong finish brought her through into second place. A great omen for the final on Saturday.

And JON SCHOFIELD and LIAM HEATH did not disappoint in the K2. About three-quarters of a length down on the winning Russian boat, they appeared in control of their semi-final and now appear in the final.
